The Delta variant is booming again in Britain. Covid infection cases are on the rise, especially in England. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that sanctions will be extended for another four weeks in the city for this reason.
In fact, the government's idea is to lift sanctions across the country from the 19th of next month. People have not been wearing masks since last March. No more physical distance observances. But due to this new Delta strain, Covid cases are on the rise in places like England, Scotland, New South Wales and Northern Ireland.
Experts say this variant is 60 percent more dangerous than the alpha variant. The ban will last until July 19. Pubs and nightclubs will be allowed in other cities from next week. As per one study estimates that a month's delay in lifting sanctions will result in a loss of about $ 4.23 billion in sales. About 8,000 positive cases have been reported daily since last February. Positive cases rose 50 percent last week. For this reason the Boris government hopes to first extend sanctions in England. Experts say that it will take a long time to control the Delta variant of the four variants.
Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was 96% effective against hospitalization from the Delta variant after two doses, while AstraZeneca's offered 92% protection against hospitalization by Delta. Scottish study which showed that two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine among people who tested positive cut their risk of hospitalization by 70%, although there were not enough hospital admissions reported to compare the vaccines. The Delta variant of the coronavirus is “poised to take hold” on the continent as the U.K. works to fight off the strain.
