Indian vaccination plan has continued with two vaccines like Covaxin and Covishield for 5 months. Total population in India is 1.37 billion whereas total doses administered so far is 23.7 crores. The number of People fully vaccinated is 4.56 crores which is 3.3% of the population.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the central government will provide free coronavirus vaccine to states for inoculation of all above the age of 18 from June 21. He also said the continuation of free vaccines for over 80 crore people in the country till November.
It can't be possible for the government with two
vaccines to reach the target. The second largest populated nation is struggling
to speed up the vaccination process on a larger scale. Keeping the deadline in
view, Indian government has given permissions to new vaccines into the country.
After the second wave of pandemic in India, people are suffering to get
vaccines and hospitals are reporting shortage of vaccines. Sputnik V from
Russia seems to be the first foreign vaccine in which India received 150K
doses. Serum Institute is expected to produce about 850 million doses of
Sputnik V by March 2022.
Corbevax vaccine is expected to be out between
August and December 2021. India has ordered 300 million doses of the vaccine
for its campaign. India welcomes the world's most popular Pfizer vaccine which
is expected to be available in July. The game changer vaccine for western countries
has reportedly proven suitable for everyone over 12 years of age. Bharat
Biotech has produced new vaccine Intranasal BBV154 which is expected to be
cheaper than the other vaccines for coronavirus. As per WHO, BBV154 vaccine can
be a game changer for children as it is easy to administer. PTX-Covid-19B,
Janssen and HGCO19 are new vaccines that India will include for the vaccination
programme.
