Indian Healthcare system collapsed

When many nations across the world are recovering from pandemic, India is fighting miserably with coronavirus in its second wave. From April 01st to till April 26th, the number of positive cases recorded in the country is keeping on increasing.

More than 3 lakh cases have been recorded since the last 5 days. One assumption from medical analysts is India would see the worst peak in the second wave in May month. They are expecting more than 7 lakh cases daily in peak. India never ever faced such a critical situation soon after getting independence. The second wave clearly exposed Indian healthcare system in front of others.

The world is sending help to India on humanity grounds. The UK, Saudi Arabia and Singapore have started shipping medical Oxygen to India. The United States lifts the ban on sending raw-materials to help India in manufacturing the vaccines. Experts blame a new Covid-19 variant for pushing India’s healthcare system to the brink. People have died because of non-availability of oxygen in many hospitals in Delhi and Mumbai. Demand for medical oxygen has increased in the second wave in India. Though the government banned supply of oxygen for industrial purposes, still no oxygen boards appeared at hospitals.

International media lashes Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the sudden emergence of coronavirus in the second wave. UK media finds fault in giving the permission for “Kumbh Mela” which the largest Hindu devotees is gathering. The same media hailed Modi last year in the coronavirus first wave. Delhi High Court warned it will hang anyone blocking oxygen supplies to hospitals tells the criticality of the situation. After completing 6 phases of West Bengal elections, every second person was infected with coronavirus in Kolkata. Still two more phases left out. Madras High Court blamed the election commission for conducting the elections during the second wave.
