The Taliban raided Indian consulates in Kandahar and Herat, Afghanistan, and seized some documents. As per the sources, the incident took place two days ago. The Taliban claimed to have taken the documents as well as the vehicles.
The Talibans are looking towards foreign consulates in particular Indian and United States of America after the completion of the takeover in Afghanistan. As per the sources, security officials at the offices said the Taliban had forcibly entered Indian consulates in Kandahar and Herat. Some documents and vehicles were reportedly seized by the Taliban.
The Indian Consulate is located in Kandahar, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad in Afghanistan. The capital, Kabul, was captured by the Taliban on August 15. The Indian government subsequently closed consulates in the country. The Government of India is repatriating diplomats and staff working in these offices. About 120 people on board the Indian Air Force plane C-17 returned on Tuesday. The Indian government is trying to bring in the rest as well. The members of the Taliban "ransacked" the Indian consulates in Kandahar and Herat, which were closed at the time when they reached.
As per the ISI Order, Taliban has scrutinized the intelligence papers, hard disks, laptops and documents in the Indian consulate. The Taliban entered at least two of India's consulates in Afghanistan. They "searched closets" in Kandahar for papers and took away vehicles parked at both the consulates. The Taliban is in search of identifying the people who worked for the National Directorate of Security against them. As per buzz, The Taliban will do door-to-door search for identifying the people who worked for U.S. and NATO forces soon. The targeted searches would create fear among the people.
