Taliban set to take control of Kabul airport without completing the last phase of evacuation of U.S. and NATO forces. Reportedly, the U.S. carries out an Afghanistan drone strike when the evacuation enters in less than 48 hours. U.S. drone targeted the vehicle carrying out suicide bombers of ISIS-K on August 29th in Kabul. U.S. officials said that ISIS-K has planned to attack Kabul airport once again before the end of deadline August 31st. U.S and NATO forces are in the final phase of evacuation from Afghanistan which comes to the end of two decades of their involvement.
Different countries are in
different phases to end the evacuation process from Afghanistan. Countries rush
to evacuate respective citizens as the threat escalates. France completed the
evacuation process on August 27th whereas Britain finished it
on August 28th. The UK has evacuated nearly 15K people ever since
the Taliban took over Kabul. Germany said that it couldn’t evacuate all the
people who worked for a joint mission for two decades in Afghanistan. Germany
evacuated 5300 people from 45 different nations from Kabul and feel it can’t
evacuate completely because of the short period of deadline. Italy has
completed the evacuation of 4800 people since the Taliban took over Kabul.
Spain has also concluded the evacuation mission and evacuated nearly 1900 people from Afghanistan when the last flight lands in Dubai. The United States has the capacity to evacuate the approximately 300 U.S. citizens remaining in Afghanistan who want to leave before President Joe Biden’s deadline. As per the media, the U.S. has evacuated nearly 114K people from Afghanistan since mid-Aug. The country used six commercial planes in the Afghan evacuation mission. But Afghans who worked for U.S. forces fear Taliban reprisals.
