The report was prepared by the NIMD Expert Committee set up under the guidance of the Union Home Ministry. However the third wave intensity is expected to be lower compared to the second phase. The government didn't take steps as per the severity of the pandemic virus. The situation could worsen due to inadequate measures taken, lack of adequate medical facilities and delay in vaccination.
As per the report, India will see up to 4-5 lakh new coronavirus positive cases daily during October month. It has said that there will be 23% hospitalization in the current surge.
