Two months back, Taliban groups were hidden in Afghanistan and not dared to face U.S. and NATO forces. Soon after President of United States of America Joe Biden was announced the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan by August 31st, Taliban took the advantage and seize the nation within just 11 days.
Except Panjsher valley, Taliban capture the entire nation. Now it is a completely different situation in Kabul. Taliban warns of consequences if U.S. delays withdrawal from Afghanistan. The development comes after President Joe Biden has discussed with his administration officials the possibility of extending the deadline by August 31st.
The Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan on August 15, have warned that the United States will see "consequences" in the event of an extension beyond August 31 on the stay of American troops in the war-torn nation. Taliban says the extending withdrawal deadline is a Red Line. Taliban feel that any extension will be a violation of the agreement. It seems that the Taliban had not agreed to compromise on the US pull out as chaos continued to overwhelm Kabul airport. Leaders of the G7 of rich countries will hold a virtual summit to discuss Afghanistan. Because Britain currently chairs the G7, Boris Johnson will preside.
He and other NATO allies have voiced their dismay at Biden’s abrupt decision to pull all US troops out of Afghanistan. The UK, France and Germany have all indicated U.S. to continue evacuation beyond the deadline. President Biden is under pressure to extend the deadline for evacuation. Kabul airport is the epicenter of evacuation of foreign forces. Taliban has surrounded the airport for 10 days when U.S. and NATO forces are leaving Afghanistan. The U.S. has facilitated the evacuation of over 48K people from Afghanistan since August 14th. As per the sources, 6K people have deployed to secure and run the airlift. The U.S. and UK have decided to mobilize commercial flights to speed up the process.
