North Korea is facing two fold crisis ever before in the history. Fighting with pandemic virus and coping with extensive flood damage.
But North Korean leader Kim Jong-un firm not to take any outside help for these calamities. Reportedly, he told in Party Politburo meeting North Korea has not accepted any international aid for fear. Though the nation controlled Coronavirus effectively, torrential rains have flooded North Korean. As per North Korean state news, recent floods had damaged 96k acres of agricultural land and around 17k people turns to homeless.

Spreading pandemic virus and floods have exacerbated Mr. Kim’s economic troubles. N. Korean economy is already hamstrung by the sanctions imposed by the United Nations for its nuclear weapons development. North Korea is mainly depends on China, the primary trading partner for its imports and exports. The country’s economy hit after it closed the border with China. No exports and imports after outbreak of coronavirus. Due to this 60% of people in North Korea face food security in this year.

Adding to
that, floods in North Korea may have threatened to its nuclear facility. One
website observing the floods in North Korea was released satellite pictures. As
per the website the water had reached to two pump houses that service the
reactors. Incessant rains caused potentially damage to the pumps and their power
systems. Yongyon is home to nuclear reactors, fuel reprocessing plants and
uranium enrichment facilities which is located on the banks of river Kuryong.
North Korean local media has maintained silence on damage to Yongyon.
