ByteDance is facing the severe investigation from US government into the company’s 2017 purchase of Musical.ly and investigation aimed to know whether US user data was shared to Beijing or not.
All these circumstances forced to sell Tiktok to US. ByteDance CEO Zhang Yiming writes letter to the employees on reasons for TikTok’s sale in the United States. President Trump gave deadline on sale of TikTok to US unit by September 15th. Tiktok will likely to be banned if it fails to find buyer in U.S. before the given deadline. It’s CEO Zhang Yiming is facing the troubles. At outside TikTok was banned and at China he is branded as Traitor by Chinese people for selling Tiktok to United States. Zhang Yiming has clearly mentioned that it is difficult to run the company unless the company sold to any U.S. company.
Beijing-based ByteDance has come under pressure from the White House and U.S. lawmakers to sell off its U.S. TikTok operations and now has until Sept. 15 to hold negotiations with Microsoft Corp. over such a deal. This decision backlashes Tiktok CEO at home (China).Trump made a call to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and asked him to complete the negotiations of Tiktok deal. Chinese internet patriots call Zhang as a “Traitor’. Chinese media said that China will not accept U.S. ‘theft’ of Tiktok. China government won’t accept an acquisition of Tiktok by Microsoft and warned to take action against Washington.
