3 vaccine companies in India applied for emergency authorization

UK was started first vaccine supplied programme in the world. The country provides all necessary equipment and also legal protection for Pfizer.

United States of America is preparing all arrangements for the distribution of vaccine. Obama, Bush and Clinton have come forward and ready to vaccinate on camera to give confidence among the people. Now, India is too gearing up for vaccine distribution. Modi asked state governments for priority list.

Three vaccine developers Bharat Biotech, Pfizer and Serum Institute of India are now asked for emergency use authorization. The applications have been sent to approval authority Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for review. Reportedly, none of the three vaccines have generated date on Phase III trials in India. Pfizer (BNT162b2), Bharat Biotech (COVAXIN) and SII (COVISHIELD) are developing vaccines for pandemic virus. COVAXIN has recently moved to Phase III trials.

Serum Institute of India sought for approval for AstraZeneca vaccine which is now in third phase of its trials. Pfizer has not carried out it’s trials in India. It has sought approval based on trials conducted in US. The first process will be the presentation of data that will reflect the safety profile of the vaccine candidate before Subject Expert Committee set up by CDSCO. The Subject Expert Committee will have a series of questions and there is a considerable back and forth expected. It will forward to DGCI for emergency use authorization only after satisfied.
