First new strain case recorded in Colorado state in U.S.


The first cases in North America were reported in the United States in January 2020. Now, United States is the highest in number of coronavirus positive cases with 20 million cases and more than 3 lakh deaths due to coronavirus. 

The first known U.S. case of the highly contagious new strain of the coronavirus that’s spreading through the United Kingdom has been discovered in a rural Colorado county. New variant of COVID-19 first discovered in the U.K., saying the state is the first to identify the strain in the United States. The new variant found in a young man Elbert County who don’t have any travel history.


The United Kingdom is the first nation detected new strain in September. In December, South Africa is reported another mutated Covid-19 strain which is similar to UK’s. The U.S. also has announced travel restrictions, including requiring airline passengers from Britain to test negative for COVID-19 before their flight. The new variant is believed to be as much as 70% more contagious than previous strains of the novel coronavirus, but it does not lead to more serve symptoms than earlier versions of the virus. The two variants have already spread across the world. As usual, World Health Organization has reminded people to stay vigilant.


New variants of the coronavirus have appeared in the U.S. since the start of the pandemic. Dr. Anthony Fauci, disease expert of the United States said that the new variant of coronavirus found in Britain has already reached the US as dozens of countries announced travel bans from the United Kingdom. The Colorado State Laboratory confirmed the COVID-19 variant B.1.1.7 and notified the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of the case. So, people in United States are battling with two viruses. The positive news on new variant is that it spreads quickly than coronavirus but doesn’t report much danger like pandemic virus.
